Is it possible to use a cell's address as the lookup_value in a Vlookup? For instance I need to know what is in $Z$1 in a different sheet. I would guess the vlookup would look something like =vlookup($Z$1, sheet 1, 2,false)

Has anyone ever done this?

Waterfall charts in Excel?
Office 365 customers have access to Waterfall charts since late 2016. They were added to Excel 2019.

Yes, that is actually how it is typically done (very rarely do people hard-code the value they are looking for in the formula).
Just note that if it is on a different sheet, you need to preface the sheet name before the range address.
An easy way of making sure you do it right is to start to write the formula, like
Excel Formula:
=VLOOKUP(
and then browse to and select the range you want to lookup and hit enter, and it will place it in your formula.
Then continue on with the rest of the formula.
