Hello there,

It may sound silly but in my ciecumstances it will ease my work.

If I enter a value in certain cell A2 to CK2 the color of cell may turn to Red as it would be alert activity.

Experts know well how to do it.

regards,

Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
It may sound silly

Not at all. Highlighting certain variances or amounts is good practice.

Try using conditional formatting for the amount in question.

Let me know if you need a hand setting it up, including the version of Excel you're using.

Hello Trebor,

Being a Flood professional, what I want to do is, on entering any value (e.g. Minor flood warning at Wang River) the cell turn to red always even for major or mederate event.

Atleast, the color should change.

Conditional formatting works with numbers but not with text.

Do you have something more up your sleeves?

No, Conditional Formatting works with text.

See if the following five steps do the job:

1. Ensure you are on the cell in question and then click the Home ribbon.
2. From the Styles tab click Conditional Formatting and then New Rule
3. From the New Formatting Rule dialog click on Use a formula to determine which cells to format
4. Enter a formula in the Format values where this formula is true text box and the desired format to the cell in step 1 above, i.e. =E2="Minor flood warning at Wang River" will set the format for the cell from step 1 if the text in cell E2 is "Minor flood warning at Wang River".
5. Click OK
