Cell comment no longer available

I am no longer able to right-click on a cell and (1)create a new comment or (2)edit an existing comment; i.e., the comment option is no longer available in the right-click menu, though all other options appear to be.
Is there a setting I accidentally clicked on that turned off cell comments?

Thanks in advance to all who reply,
Dan

Excel Facts

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
The current settings can be amended if you go to File \ Options \ Advance \ Display

Do you have more than one sheet selected?

Shut down Excel completely and open up a NEW workbook
- are right-click cell comment options available or not ?

Which version of Excel are you using ?
- there have been some major changes in the latest versions
