I am creating a purchase order form in Excel and want only a date to be in the cell - no text.

The cell format is set to mm/dd/yy. I used data validation to display the input message when the field is selected. I do not know how to "code" or add a formula to limit the data entered to a date only. The final version of the form will be password protected.

Help will be much appreciated!

Which Excel functions can ignore hidden rows?
The SUBTOTAL and AGGREGATE functions ignore hidden rows. AGGREGATE can also exclude error cells and more.
When you set the data validation there is an option in the "Allow" dropdown for date.
