I've encountered instances where I have typed in a formula in a cell and when I "return", the formula is displayed, rather than the value.

Any Ideas?

Excel Facts

Round to nearest half hour?
Use =MROUND(A2,"0:30") to round to nearest half hour. Use =CEILING(A2,"0:30") to round to next half hour.
Check the format of the cell. If it is formatted as text then you will get the value in the cell and not the results of the formula.

If it is formatted as text, you will need to change it to "general" then make sure you either double click on that cell or select it, hit F2 then enter. That should flip it back.

One possibility is that the cell is formatted as text.

Change the cell format to GENERAL.
With the cell still selected, hit function key F2 then hit ENTER.
