Cell references when I Copy & Paste Charts

I am creating a report which consists of blocks of data with simple charts along side. Is there a way to copy & paste what I've done for one set of data so that when I paste it the cells Excel 'looks at' to create the chart are the pasted cells rather than the copied cells. Am I explaining this at all well?????

To elaborate (or bore you) further..... what I'm having to do after I paste is click on the pasted chart, click select data, then 'tell' Excel to look at the pasted data. Is that an avoidable annoying step?

Hi Ruth,

I would suggest making a copy of the entire worksheet. this will create a new reference for the chart to the new worksheeet. Otherwise Excel may link the new chart to the original data instead of the copied/new data.
