How to prevent duplicate entry and limit the cell to six characters.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum!

Assuming you are validating range A1:A5 maybe this

Select A1:A5
Data Validation
Allow = Custom

and enter this formula
=AND(LEN(A1)<=6,COUNTIF($A$1:$A$5,A1)=1)
