I have a question and I hope that you guys can help me with it.
I have a column that contains the Format Cell on Text.
The problem is that I need a way to paste data(numbers) on those cells that are containing a .0 between them. When I put my data on that column it remove the .0
Lest say I have in a sheet the data 10.0 and 2.0 and when I copy them to this column the .0 is not there any more.
I know that if I change the Format Cell to numbers it will be solve but the problem is that this sheet we are using only can accept text. This sheet is part of as sistem that cant change the Cell Format, is stupid but that is what Im dealing with. So, there is any other way for me to keep the 10.0, 2.0 or whatever in that format ??
I have thousend of numbers that I need to change if I dont find a smart way to do it.
Any help with be great

Thanks

Excel Facts

Select all contiguous cells
Pressing Ctrl+* (asterisk) will select the "current region" - all contiguous cells in all directions.
Select the cells the numbers are going to be pasted into, choose format cells and then change the format to custom, type: #.0

This will force 10 to become 10.0 etc

Jack thanks for your input but the problem is that I can't use any other option than Text. :( . I need to find I way to ge the 10.0, 20.0, 2.0, or any value with a .0 behind to this cells using the Text Format. I dont even know if that is possible.
Thanks

Use formulas to convert the values to text ... =TEXT(A2,"0.0") , then do copy, and then paste values into the text formatted cells.

So Glenn let me ask you something. Are you saying that I can just put that formula on the cells where I need to keep the .0 numbers and that will do it even with the Cell Format set to Text? It is what you are saying ???
Thet A2 in that formula has to be tjhe cell where the information goes in, right?

Thanks,

I was thinking that you used an extra column for that formula, and copy those cells to paste into the cells formatted as Text.

I have a colummn with the Cell Format numbers. On that column all the numbers are follow by a .0 and that is good.
On another sheet I have a formula that will pick the information from the column with the .0 numbers. After this is, I copy this information and paste it in the final document, the document that only accept the Text Format.
On that last option is where the problems is, the numbers that were copyed with the .0 no longer show with the .0.
That is the problem.

This one:
=IF(ISNA(LOOKUP(9.99999999999999E+307,FIND(data!$B$4:$B$2488,imput!B4),data!$C$4:$C$2488)),"",LOOKUP(9.99999999999999E+307,FIND(data!$B$4:$B$2488,
