I am doing a simple concatenation but when i press enter all that is in the cell is the formula instead of the result i.e =CONCATENATE(B2,D2) instead of what the answer should be. Why is this please?

Excel Facts

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
With the cell selected, invoke Format Cells (Control+1), and in the number tab choose 'General'. Then recommit your formula.

Check the cell formatting. It will be Text.

Change the formatting to General, select all cells containing formulae, and via Find/Replace (Ctrl+H), replace "=" with "=" (without quotes in both cases).
