Hi help I am trying to change a workbook that a supplier/vendor sends me each month and in it whenever I type a number anywhere in the workbook it shows as OMR xx.xx.

I don't want any currency symbols to appear when I type numbers in this workbook but every month I have to reformat each of the cells I enter. Is there a better way?

When I open a new workbook on my laptop the default is no symbol.

Excel Facts

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
Unless I am missing something ….

Provided the currency symbol is not due to some VBA code?
You can try this; left click the top left corner of the sheet to highlight the whole sheet then
select “Format Cells” from the ribbon or right click the mouse and select “Format Cells”.
Then select to format as “General” or “Number”

hi thanks for reply but I don't want to change whole sheet (there's other cells formatted in percentages which are fine)

Ok try this.

Click on a cell that contains the OMR xx.xx. symbol, and then select “Format cells”.
Look at what the “Currency” format is set to, more likely to be a “Custom” format so look there as well.
If you don’t see OMR xx.xx. symbol in either, it means it there due to VBA code
