How do I code the following: If selected cell is merged, then unmerge?

I have tried: If SourceData.Cells(5,1).MergeCells = True Then SourceData.Cells(5,1).UnMerge [where SourceData is my worksheet name]

Thank you.

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
How about just unmerging all cells at the beginning and be done with it?

I agree with shg, but for now try:
Code:
If sourcedata.Cells(5, 1).MergeCells Then sourcedata.Cells(5, 1).MergeCells = False
