This isn't really just an excel query so apologies if wrong forum but....

In Excel 2002 when you did open or save as on the dialog box you would get favorites by default on the left hand side, this is also the same for word, excel, access etc

we have now gone to 2003 and all our users have lost favorites on the left hand side. now i know how to get it back manually and i know the registry key is HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\Open Find\Places\StandardPlaces .

but my question is......

how can we get 2003 to make favorites a standardplace for all users without having to manually do it on each pc. it was the default in 2002 but how does 2002 know to put this entry in current user key for each user.

any ideas. thanks ali

Excel Facts

Formula for Yesterday
Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.
hi ali.

could you have your users edit this in the Default File Location textbox under Tools->Options->General?

ben.
