Charting date ranges

I have a customer catalog that I export from Crystal into Excel. I need to graph price changes based on from and to dates. My manager wants to see the dates reflected in column width. For example a date range of 1/1/00 - 12/31/01 and 1/1/02 - 6/31/02 would be proportioned according to the length of time the price was at a certain level. Any ideas?
