Hi all,

Excel 2007

I'm trying out some dynamic charts, and the instructions on the web site say you can click on the series and edit the source in the formula bar.

However, when I do this, I can't exit the formula bar (pressing enter does not work)

Can anyone help?

Thanks,Nigel

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
Hi Akashwani,

I can't select any cell.

But if I make a typo in the formula bar, Excel lets me know, but when I correct it, then I'm back to square one.

Thanks,Nigel

I think that this means that you are not entering a valid series. Pressing ESC should get you back to square one.

Hi Vog,

I didn't mention that the series comes from named ranges. However, I have one chart that works perfect, but click on the series, try to edit in the formula bar, no luck.

But if I change it to a unknown named range, then it does recognise that it is an invalid name.

Hi Nigel,

Can you post the link to the website so I can try and recreate your situation?

Thanks

Hi Nigel,

I pressed esc then clicked in a cell and managed to get out of the formula bar.

Hi Nigel,

How do you want to edit the series?
If you are referring to a named range within the series then surely you change the range the Named Range refers to.

If you want to edit/delete an existing series and change it to a new one.
Click on the chart, on the ribbon click Design, click Data Series, click Edit, highlight the Named Range part of the formula, press F3 and click on the new Named Range that you want to use.

Other than that I'm not sure what you can do.

Good luck
