this checks if a file with same name is in the folder (could be a different file if active workbook is being saved to a different folder)
VBA Code:
Sub IsFileInFolder1()
Dim fPath As String, n As String
fPath = "C:\beta"
n = ActiveWorkbook.Name
fPath = InputBox(n & vbCr & "look in which folder ?", "", fPath) & "\" & n
If Len(Dir(fPath)) > 0 Then MsgBox n & " found" Else MsgBox n & " not found"
End Sub
whereas this checks to see if the workbook's actual filepath is the same
VBA Code:
Sub IsFileInFolder2()
Dim fPath As String, n As String
fPath = "C:\beta"
n = ActiveWorkbook.Name
fPath = InputBox(n & vbCr & "look in which folder ?", "", fPath)
If ActiveWorkbook.Path = fPath Then MsgBox "matches" Else MsgBox "folder mismatch"
End Sub
Inputbox line can be deleted if you do not want to change folder at runtime
