Check Mark Question

I have a form. In the form their is a check mark (yes no) field. Its data field is "active". What I want to do is if that check mark is check (meaning Yes) then I want it to put the date() in the field on the same form labeled "Date Active". I can do this with code or perhaps an expression builder.

Correct me if I am wrong but would that be under the event "After Update"?
