Checking if other field is empty

Hey All,

Situation is like this:
User wants to put value into field A2 - Is it possible to check if field A1 is already filled and if not preventing him from edit cell A2 (showing message) without using vba?

Hi,

You cannot check directly if a cell is blank using validation, you can use a 'helper' cell though.

e.g. Cell B1 formula: =ISBLANK(A1)

A2 validation: =B1<>TRUE
