Hi

I need to save a workbook as 2003 but it wont let me as it thinks there are 178k rows of data (there are in fact 49k.

I have cleared content and deleted rows but it still thinks there are 178k rows...please help!

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
What makes you think it thinks that. If you are trying to work in a workbook that was created in 2007 or 2010, save it as type Excel Workbook 97-2003 and then try working in it in versions earlier than 2007.

CTRL END takes me to row 178k.

I Ideally need to copy the worksheet into a 97-2003 workbook but it wont let me due to the row issue.

Ah, OK, you are looking at it in 2007 or 2010.

Maybe you have formatting or some formulas in some of those rows.

Navigate to row 49000 or whichever row you think is the real last row.

Select the cell in column A that is in the row below that last row.

Press the Ctrl+Shift+Arrow Down keys.

Press the Cltr+Shift+Arrow Right keys.

From the Ribbon, click to Edit and Clear all.

Hit Ctrl+Home.

Save the workbook.

That should reset your rows, *unless* there are objects such as pictures or controls on those cells which you are unaware of.
