Hi,

Can somebody pls. tell me where i'm going wrong...

I want to prevent update on COL.G and allow update on all other cols. preceding COL.G i.e Col. A to F.

http://img112.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wson4.jpg

So i selected COL.G & unchecked 'Locked' option under Format>Cells>Protection

Then i selected COLs A to F, when to Protection>Protect Sheet & unchecked 'Select Locked Cells'

The result is that i'm not allowed to update any of the cols. !

Pls. advise - DC

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN

You need to uncheck Locked for columns A to F. By default, all cells are locked.
