I am wanting to return the column number of the cell for the last time a cell contains a value greater then 0. For example:

A B C D desired result
1 500 200 300 3
2 100 400 4
3 100 1

Excel Facts

Why does 9 mean SUM in SUBTOTAL?
It is because Sum is the 9th alphabetically in Average, Count, CountA, Max, Min, Product, StDev.S, StDev.P, Sum, VAR.S, VAR.P.

Try this...

Assuming the numbers will never be negative numbers.

=LOOKUP(2,1/A1:D1,COLUMN(A1:D1))
