Column width for pivot tables

Is there a way to stop pivot tables changing the column widths when refreshing? I've written code to reset them before but I'm not keen on this method. The code was written as I'm fairly sure it can't be done any other way. However, I'd like to be wrong on this - one of the most annoying things about the hugely powerful and useful pivot table is the ridiculous way they end up formatting themselves all the time.

I'm using 2003 on WinXP.
