Hello!
I have a problem and spent quite a long time in hundreds of forums and not find a solution for my problem yet. i really hope you can help me with it!! Im a beginner im sorry!

If have a simplified table like that:
/////A | B | C | D | E | F | G
/1 //F///1///2///////F//( )////
/2///////3////4/////////////////

I want to have "B2" in "F1", therefore i need something like a combination of the HLOOKUP and the VLOOKUP funktion.
I couldnt use informations like headlines or something like this. i only can access on this little information, but have to do this at least hundreds of times, therefore i would like to use a funktion that i can use generally.
i have to attach datas to companynames therefore in the real case there are also names, not only numbers to attach.
I dont have any experience posting to forums, i hope you forgive me if i made any mistakes.

Thanks a lot for your replies!!

What are the expected results in F1, F2 and F3 (yellow cells) ?

M.

I try for example to get the "3" in "F1", the "4" in "F2" and the "2" in "F3". The last one is no problem, therefore i can use just the VLOOKUP funktion. But i dont know how to get the for example the "3" in "F1" because i dont know how to combine the HLOOKUP und the VLOOKUP funktion.
Im problem is, that i have to go "one left" with the VLOOKUP funktion and "one up" with the HLOOKUP funktion. but i dont know how to combine this.

Do you understand what my problem is? Thanks for your reply so far!

Hi,

Please, try to explain the logic behind
F1 = 3
F2 = 4
F3 = 2 (you said this is easy using VLOOKUP...how?)

I'm not understanding 100% but I'll give you my interpretation of what I think you're asking. To me it sounds like you have informatoin that isn't in a particular order and you want to find it and match it.

The match function will return a number which will indicate where in the array the object is first found. You can then use that number to choose the column you want the vlookup to use.

I hope this helps.
