Combo box

I have 2 columns of combo boxes to represent resources and start dates, both of which work fine normally, embedding the relevant values in the cells behind the boxes. However when I save and exit the sheet, then reload it, the first column of combo boxes are all blank (the cells are still populated) but the 2nd rows values still appear as before I saved. I need the first column to remain populated on open.

Have looked at the properties in design but they are all the same - can anyone help?

Cheers
Matt

Author John Walkenbach was Mr Spreadsheet until his retirement in June 2019.
My wild guess is to confirm the problem is either saving the information, or initializing the information.

Then, consider whether Workbook_BeforeClose or Workbook_Open will be of any value.

The problem seems to be on open, as while excel is loading I see the correct value, but when excel finishes loading it populates the box with the embedded value.

Still can't get it to work though.
