Hi Everyone,

Hope all doing well and safe!!.

I just need a help for excel formula.

Actually am comparing two values with vlookup with one reference sheet and one input sheet.

Am doing vlookup from my reference sheet towards input sheet. If any value changes done on input that should be updated on reference sheet also in some case if no values provided on input then result should not returns with not empty it should return as value which is available on reference sheet.

Formula which i used : - =VLOOKUP(A3,Input!A:B,2,0)

I have attached sample IMAGES for better understanding.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.

Is this what you mean?

=IF(VLOOKUP(A3,Input!A:B,2,0)="",VLOOKUP(A3,Reference!A:B,2,0),VLOOKUP(A3,Input!A:B,2,0))

Hi Jason,

Could you please help below scenario's as well. Here am applying formula in reference column to get values from input columns.

In case if any names are not there in input sheet it should return values which is available in reference.

=VLOOKUP(A11,A3:B7,2,0)

Problems are not easily identifiable from screen captures but I would guess that the error occurs when the name is missing from the input sheet. If that is the case then this should fix it.

=IF(IFERROR(VLOOKUP(A3,Input!A:B,2,0),"")="",VLOOKUP(A3,Reference!A:B,2,0),VLOOKUP(A3,Input!A:B,2,0))
