Comparing two columns using conditional formating

I need to compare two columns of numbers in excel, and highlight those which only appear in the first column so that I can extract these into a seperate list i.e.

145 323
123 243
238 125
333 123

How can I do this, any help is much appreciated,

Also is it possible to drag a conditional format to apply to multiple cells, in the same way that this can be done with formulas?
