I have a spreadsheet where a date is entered into cell A1 and I want that date to change red if the entered date is greater than the next business day. Example: 6/28/11 is entered. When June 29th passes the 6/28/11 date turns red.

Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
Choose Insert|Name|Define and define NextDay as:

=WORKDAY(Sheet1!$A$1,1)

Then try the Conditional Formatting formula:

=TODAY()>NextDay

Note that prior to Excel 2007 the WORKDAY function is in the Analysis ToolPak Add-In, which must be installed. Also it can't be used directly in Conditional Formatting because it is in another workbook.

Hi

Not sure if I understand, but here goes. Office 2007. Same principles apply for earlier versions.

1. Select Conditional formating
2. Greater than
3. Input =today()+1
4. Select the formating you wish.

Thank you for the attempt. Maybe this example will help: first cell contains the date of 7/8/11. The second date contains the date 7/11/11. 7/8/11 was a friday. 7/11/11 was a monday, which is the next workday excluding the weekends. I want the second dates cell to turn color if the second date entered is 7/12/11. This would be the second workday after the first date entered. Thanks again for the assistance.

Insert the name as above, changing the cell reference to suit. Then select the second cell and in Conditional Formatting choose Cell Value is greater than =NextDay, pick a Format and click OK twice.
