Conditional Formatting + ISBLANK=False?

I am looking for a solution to a banding problem.

Basically just a twist on odd row banding (=MOD(ROW()-Rw,N*2)+1<=N
) but only for cells which are NOT blank.

I am working on spreadsheets which expand and contract frequently, and was hoping to find a way to avoid having to reselect the active area and reapply the conditional formatting.

Any ideas?

This formula will conditionally format all odd rows:
=MOD(ROW(),2)

What determines a blank row? Any cell in the row? A certain cell? Is it numeric data, text data, or both?

I was hoping to determine weather a CELL was blank vs a row or column. In either case, the format of the contents runs the gamut from formulas, text, numbers, and custom formats.

This assumes the cell you're checking is in Column A, change as necessary:

=MOD(ROW(),2)*($A1<>"")

That worked nicely, thank you.
And now that I see the strategy behind it, it will help me sort out a few other issues as well.
