I am attempting to apply conditional formatting to adjacent cells in a table but for some reason it is not working correctly. column c will not react at all and column a is the only one that resounds correctly b and d just stay formatted when cell e is empty. when i try to apply the same formula down the table i will get random cells in different columns not formatting. i also tried the formula =NOT(ISBLANK(E2)) with the same result. any advice would be appreciated.

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
Have you tried putting a $ before the E of E2 making it $E2?

you are only applying to row 2 ...

countif(E2,"<>") should conditional format if E is NOT blank

as you are selecting A to D you need a $

countif($E2,"<>")
