Hi there. In advance, I appreciate your time in reading this and any help you might have to offer. I've done a lot of searching around the MrExcel.com forums as well as other websites to try and resolve my issue but I can't seem to work out a solution on my own.

I have a column of keywords that I am trying to format conditionally if they contain any matches to three other columns.

For example...
  • in column A we have "consumer products medford or"
  • in column B we have either a city or county name (for every city/county in the U.S.)
  • in column C we have the state name (for every state in the U.S.)
  • in column D we have the state abbreviation (for every state in the U.S.

What I'd like to do is create formula that would allow me to take all of the keywords in column A and format them conditionally depending on if they match any of the city/county, state, or state abbreviations. I do have a column E where I have merged the city/county, state, and state abbreviations into one column using a concatenate formula.

If I have to break this out into separate formulas, just let me know. I'd really prefer to do this without the use of VBA or macros.

Thanks again!

How to change case of text in Excel?
Use =UPPER() for upper case, =LOWER() for lower case, and =PROPER() for proper case. PROPER won't capitalize second c in Mccartney
Hi,

From your description, one can say it is feasible ...
However, a sample worksheet and clear definition of your formatting rules would be required for somebody to help you further ...

Cheers
