Hi Folks,
i am trying to apply conditional formatting to one cell based on the result of another cell that has a drop down list contained in it.

so for example if cell A1 has a "yes"/"no" drop down list applied to it i want A2 to turn red if "no" is chosen.
the conditional formatting i am able to do in cells without drop down lists but not with a drop list.

can anyone offer any solutions.

i am using Office 2010

thanks in advanced.

Excel Facts

Pivot Table Drill Down
Double-click any number in a pivot table to create a new report showing all detail rows that make up that number
In cell A2 apply conditional format>>Formula Is>>A1="Yes" and apply green format, Add another for "No" and apply a red format

I'm not sure what the issue is, I put a dropdown in A1 with the choices of Yes and No. I went to cell A2 and in that cell I applied 2 conditions,

1st was Use formula to determine format>>=A1="Yes">>I set a green format.
2nd was Use formula to determine format>>=A1="No">>I set a red format.

Now when I change the dropdown in A1 the colour of A2 changes accordingly.
