Hi,

This problem seems to pop up often. When I change the conditional format of one cell it changes all formats in the adjacent 2 columns.

How do I CF the selected cell only. Do I have to delete the CF and start again each time.

Thanks

Windows 7 Excel 2007

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
That has not happened to me, but Excel can be quirky. By any chance, are there any merged cells in the neighborhood.

No merged cells. Yes a strange one but as I was sending my first post I discovered a fix. Delete and start again. Not the ideal fix but then all OK.

Thank you kindly

I've found it helpful to change the drop down box when in the window to manage conditional formatting rules. it defaults to current selection, but changing that to "This Worksheet" helps show any that may have crept out so you can delete those rules and then you can make sure your "Applies to..." column is set up right.

Good luck; conditional formatting can get cumbersome especially when managing a lot of rules in a window you can't expand.
