44481511162844815-1-1
54491511228444915-1-1
64491511X10044915-1-1
74491511228444915-1-1
84491511X10044915-1-1

114600411228446004-1-1
124600411X10046004-1-1
134676311117946763-1-1
144693411228446934-1-1
154693411228446934-1-1
Sheet1

I would like column E (ID) to be conditionally formatted to turn yellow (as shown) if/when cell in column A = C1

So for the above example since A4 = C1 cell E4 gets highlighted Yellow.

Is this possible?
If so, how?

Select E4 onwards, goto conditional formatting, select Formula is, enter this formula

=$A4=$C$1

and format as required.

Or, since the concatenate formula in column E always results in the first digits of the string being whatever is in column A, you can bypass column A altogether by using this conditional format in Column E:

=LEFT(E4,5)*1=$C$1
