I have read a lot of threads and Internet posts on conditional formatting, but I haven't found anyone who has solved my query yet...

I have 2 columns of data, the first is a list of names, the second is a subset of that list, but in no particualr order etc. Is there anyway of sorting the data, or fomatting cell A1 if the same value appears in column B?

EG Column A has 1,2,3,4,5 and column B has 2,4,6... Can I set up any formatting so if the value in Cell A1 appears in column B (in this case 1) that cell A! is highlighted red

Many thanks in advance :)

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
I haven't looked at Sektor's link, but we like to keep the answers directly in the forum if possible, or to links where downloads are not required since many work sites do not allow downloads.

Is this what you mean? If you need detailed help with the Conditional Formatting help, please advise which Excel version you are using.

Select A1:Axx and apply the Conditional Formatting shown.

Peter_SSs, if you'd take a look at my file, you wouldn't have to write something. :)
