I need to number each row with the next consecutive number (ro1, r0w2,etc) for rows that have data in them, skipping blank rows. How can I do this so that the row number always stays the same no matter how it is sorted or if rows are hidden or deleted?

Thanks.

Excel Facts

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.
Code:
cnt = 1
for rw = 1 to 1000
if len(cells(rw,1).value) > 0 then cells(rw,2).value = "rw" & cnt
cnt = cnt + 1
next rw

this is very simple criterium (cell contains something) but you can modify it to suit your needs
