This is probably a simple request.
We want to enter a date in cell A1. We happen to be using the format of "September 20, 2002". In cell A2, we want the MONTH and YEAR of the date in A1 to be displayed, in the format of: "SEPTEMBER 2002".

We appreciate any help. (first-time post)

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
Please put this formula in any blank cell on your sheet, and post back the result.

=isnumber(a1)

If the answer to the formula above is true, use Mark's formula. If false,
either
=LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1))&RIGHT(A1,4)
or
=TRIM(REPLACE(A1,FIND(" ",A1),4," "))

should work.

good luck

IML, my formula works regardless of the data type... thank's to good ol' coercion. :)
