I'm trying to place (on either Google Maps or Earth, Microsoft MapPoint or any easily available Mapping software) the boundary lines for various demographic and political areas that are available from the census (http://www.census.gov/geo/www/cob/bdy_files.html) in three consistent file extensions (ARC/INFO Export (.e00) format, ArcView Shapefile (.shp) format, and ARC/INFO Ungenerate (ASCII) format).
Since Congressional districts are going to be the next largest political boundaries after state lines my self (http://www.mapforums.com/help-converting-shape-files-mappoint-17369.html#post39058) and others (http://www.mapforums.com/mappoint-2009-shape-files-10113.html) have tried to convert Shape file extensions to be read in MapPoint. The two links above are to a MapPoint forum similar to this one.
Beyond paying for software, Is there any possible way to convert the data or info on any of these file extensions above to an excel worksheet that can be read by MapPoint. I am completely in the dark about data exporting from Excel to MapPoint so I could use some instruction on how to do that. If anyone has an idea for doing the same with Google Earth that would also be of great help.
Thanks in advance for the help
