Convert text to date

I'm trying to convert my date which is in this format: 20070423 but when i use the format function on Excel i get: ##########.I want my date to be like this:2007/04/23

Select the column with the dates, goto Data>Text to Columns... and select YMD on the 3rd step for Column data format.

You should now have a 'real' date value that you can format however you want.
