I have imported a file that is in the date format: 20060811. I want to change the date to show 11-May-06 but when i try to change the format i it shows: ###############################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################

Can anyone show me how to change the format so i don't have to retype each individual date?

Thanks :p

Excel Facts

Round to nearest half hour?
Use =MROUND(A2,"0:30") to round to nearest half hour. Use =CEILING(A2,"0:30") to round to next half hour.

Do you mean 11-Aug-06? Assuming your imported date is in cell A1 then use the formula =TEXT(DATE(LEFT(A1,4),MID(A1,5,2),RIGHT(A1,2)),"dd-mmm-yy") in another cell to get your desired result. If you have lots of imported dates down the page, in say column A, use column B to convert the dates using that formula copied down.
