I have this formula:

=IF(T8=2,"6",IF(T8=1,"3",IF(T8=0,"0")))+IF(T9=2,"4",IF(T9=1,"2",IF(T9=0,"0")))+IF(T10=2,"6",IF(T10=1,"3",IF(T10=0,"0")))+IF(T11=2,"4",IF(T11=1,"2",IF(T11=0,"0")))

and when I copy it down, I would like all the t's replaced by u's (since the data is in columns)

help!

Use the find and replace function
and replace T with any other column alphabet which you like

but make sure that There is no alphabet "T" in your data otherwise it will replace that as well

Hi

Firstly Welcome to MrExcel Forum, Glad you are here

if you Try the Formula to Copy across to Right side then the excel will automatically change the cell reference so please try your formula like this

=IF($T8=2,"6",IF($T8=1,"3",IF($T8=0,"0")))+IF($T9=2,"4",IF($T9=1,"2",IF($T9=0,"0")))+IF($T10=2,"6",IF($T10=1,"3",IF($T10=0,"0")))+IF($T11=2,"4",IF($T11=1,"2",IF($T11=0,"0")))

Hope it solve your problem other wise please inform us

Thanks

With regards to the above, do not add the $ from sgmpatnaik's solution, as the reference will not change otherwise. But the concept is correct.

Copy right and then drag the boxes down (You can't transpose as this will change the formulas)

Thanks for all the replies! But I think I may not have provided enough information...

I have a series of fomulas (from cell D8 to H8) using data in columns T, U, V, etc (all on the same sheet)
So cell D8 has the formula: =IF(T8=2,"6",IF(T8=1,"3",IF(T8=0,"0")))+IF(T9=2,"4",IF(T9=1,"2",IF(T9=0,"0")))+IF(T10=2,"6",IF(T10=1,"3",IF(T10=0,"0")))+IF(T11=2,"4",IF(T11=1,"2",IF(T11=0,"0")))

E8 has =IF(T14=2,"4",IF(T14=1,"2",IF(T14=0,"0")))+IF(T15=2,"1",IF(T15=1,"1",IF(T15=0,"0")))
F8 has =IF(T17=2,"4",IF(T17=1,"2",IF(T17=0,"0")))+IF(T18=2,"4",IF(T18=1,"2",IF(T18=0,"0")))+IF(T19=2,"4",IF(T19=1,"2",IF(T19=0,"0")))
G8 has =IF(T21=2,"2",IF(T21=1,"1",IF(T21=0,"0")))+IF(T22=2,"2",IF(T22=1,"1",IF(T22=0,"0")))+IF(T23=2,"2",IF(T23=1,"1",IF(T23=0,"0")))
H8 has =IF(T25=2,"2",IF(T25=1,"1",IF(T25=0,"0")))+IF(T26=2,"4",IF(T26=1,"2",IF(T26=0,"0")))

So I'm trying to copy the formulas above into cells D9 - H9 referencing the data in column U, the next would be copying the formulas into D10-H10 referencing column V, so on and so forth...

Sorry, I'm very new to Excel and I'm sure there's a 'better' way to do this but I"m already on this path....

Thanks again for the help!
