Copying a formula with a named range

This has to be easy but I get burned by this a lot:

I have several columns of numbers that are all named ranges. I create a SUM() of the first column. Normally when not using range names, I just copy that SUM() formula to the adjacent columns and the formulas now reference the new columns. When I use the range names, my SUM() formula contains the range name instead of XX:XX and when I copy it to the adjacent columns, all those formulas still point to the first range name (the first column).

How can I copy my formulas when using range names like this?

thanks
