Hi there!!

I need to find a way to "count the Y" based on the header having certain statements. In E2, the formula would be counting the "Y" in that row based on the column header "WVE (E1)" being found in column headers (B1:D1). In this example, it is 1. Row 5 shows that DENS has a value of 2 because 2 "Y" showed up for the DENS groups.

The actual data set is hundreds of rows and 40-50 columns.

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
Formula in E2: =COUNTIFS($B$1:$D$1,"*WVE*",B2:D2,"Y")
Formula in F2: =COUNTIFS($B$1:$D$1,"*DENS*",B2:D2,"Y")

Copy down.
