Count based on two columns of data

In column A I have Hire Date, In column B, I have termination date. I need to know the count of individuals who have hire Dates inbetween Jan 1 2005 and September 30 2005 that have been terminated. Thanks in advance....

Try...

=SUMPRODUCT(--(A2:A100>="2005/1/1"+0),--(A2:A100<="2005/9/30"+0),--(B2:B100<>""))

or

=SUMPRODUCT(--(A2:A100>=D2),--(A2:A100<=E2),--(B2:B100<>""))

...where D2 contains Jan 1, 2005, and E2 contains Sep 30, 2005.
