I have a column of dates, formatted to display the day. Format DDDD

When I used COUNTIF, and type Monday as my Criteria, or any other day. It does not find the day, due to the format.

I am also unable to copy and paste just the value. The Monday cell, copied and pasted as a value, displays as 45078.60625

What is the best way to count the number of Mondays, Tuesdays ect, from a column of dates?

Excel Facts

How to find 2nd largest value in a column?
MAX finds the largest value. =LARGE(A:A,2) will find the second largest. =SMALL(A:A,3) will find the third smallest
Yes, Excel formulas work off the actual underlying values, not on the formats applies to cells.
Try this to count Mondays:
Rich (BB code):
=SUMPRODUCT(--(WEEKDAY(range)=2))
For other days, like Tuesdays, simply change the value of 2 (to 3 for Tuesdays).
