Count Days that split months

In Cell A2 I have a start date, B2 is the EOM of A2. My data contains start date (A5) and an end date (B5) that span multiple months and sometimes years. Based on the start and end dates in A2 and B2; I need to calculate the number day for the month selected.

Date entered:
A2 = April 1, 2011
B2 = April 30, 2011

Data:
A5 = Start Date = 3/31/2010
B5 = End Date = 5/1/2011

Result:

L5 = 30

Try this formula in L5

=MAX(0,MIN(B5,B$2)+1-MAX(A5,A$2))
