Hi,

Can someone please help me? I'm going craaaaaaazyyyyyy.

I'm trying to figure out what formula to use, for counting multiple words in a range. I work in recruiting and I want to count how many active candidates I have versus inactive. This is dictated by the stage the candidate is currently in:

Manager Screen
Under Review
Offer
Interview

I'd like a formula to count these words, "Manager, Under, Offer, Interview" and give me the total in a single cell. Is there a function for this? I've spent the entire day trying different things and nothing is working. Please help, it would be much appreciated. :)

Excel Facts

Can you sort left to right?
To sort left-to-right, use the Sort dialog box. Click Options. Choose "Sort left to right"
Excel Formula:
=SUM(COUNTIF(B21:B24,{"Manager*","Under*","Offer","Interview"}))

Adjust the range to suit.
