Hi All, me again.... Is there a quick formula that can tell me how many times something occurs in a column. For example, if I have a 100 row sheet, and in column A there are only say, 8 different words, but they occur many times each to total 100 rows of info. How can I count how many times each word appears in that column.

Timbit :)

How to find 2nd largest value in a column?
MAX finds the largest value. =LARGE(A:A,2) will find the second largest. =SMALL(A:A,3) will find the third smallest
Not sure I follow, is each word the only value in the cell or is other text with it? Is the word in the cell more than once?

If it's just one word per cell, try this, replace word with the word you want to count:

=COUNTIF($A$1:$A$100,"word")
