count in a subtotal

Hi Guys,

if i use a subtotal to sum account balances that all relate to names can i also include a count in the subtotal line of the number of instances that name appears

Not sure exactly what you are after, but you can use the COUNTIF statement to count the number of times the name appears.

Thanks, i was being really lazy and wondered if you use the subtotal function you could have excel return a subtotal and a count of entries.

Nevermind, back to the sum if and count if!!

You can add a Count subtotal to you existing Sum subtotals if you uncheck Replace current subtotals in the Subtotal dialog box. The additional subtotals will be on a new row.
