Hi All

I have a list of projects for which there is a begin date column and an end date column. I also have a list of dates between first begin date and the last end date (this column is labled "actual date"). I am looking for a function that will tell me for each "Actual date" how many projects are active (ie for each "actual date" how many begin dates come before it and end dates come after it).

Example Data set

<TABLE style="WIDTH: 242pt; BORDER-COLLAPSE: collapse" cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=323 border=0><COLGROUP><COL style="WIDTH: 56pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 2742" width=75><COL style="WIDTH: 47pt; I have tried
SUMPRODUCT(--($E$2:$E$64<=J2),--($F$2:$F$64>=J2))
But it seems that it is counting the number of times each criterion is met rather than only the number of times both criterion are met. If you need any additional details please let me know.

Thanks for your attention

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
Based on your example:

=SUMPRODUCT(--($A$2:$A$64<=$C$2:$C$64),--($B$2:$B$64>=$C$2:$C$64))

Thanks for the help wigi.

The first formula I posted is ultimately what worked for me. I was simply misunderstanding the results.

Cheers
