Hi,

I have a list of countries in column c of a worksheet and a list of names in column d. This list contains many duplicates and I basically want to have a total count of any unique county and name combo i.e. The list might look like:

UK John
UK Bob
UK John
France Hannah

I would like to have a total of 3 in this case... Can anyone help me with a formula for this?

Excel Facts

Copy a format multiple times
Select a formatted range. Double-click the Format Painter (left side of Home tab). You can paste formatting multiple times. Esc to stop
Simplest way is to have:

In E2:
=C2&D2

In F2:

=COUNTIF(E$2:E2,E2)

and in E1 to sum the amounts:

=COUNTIF(F1:F,1)

Then just pull the formula's in C & E down.
