This is making me crazy…<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Page 1
(cell “A1” contains the number 1,2,3 or 4)
(column “D” contains various names validated in a pull down list found on page 2)

Page 2
(column “A” is the original named list being used on page 1 as a pull down feature)
(column “B” next to each name (found in page 1’s pull down) is counting how many times that name appears in Page 1 column “D”

Question:
I need a formula for page 2 column “C,D,E,F” that counts how many times each name appears in page 1 column “D” if cell “A1” says either 1 or 2 or 3 or 4.
There will be thirty pages in the end, and I want to count them in relation to that cell “A1” criteria first.

If cell “A1” says 1 (how many names in page 1, column “D” match a name in page 2, “B1”) formula on page 2, cell “C1”
If cell “A1” says 2 (how many names in page 1, column “D” match a name in page 2, “B1”) formula on page 2, cell “D1”
If cell “A1” says 3 (how many names in page 1, column “D” match a name in page 2, “B1”) formula on page 2, cell “E1”
If cell “A1” says 4 (how many names in page 1, column “D” match a name in page 2, “B1”) formula on page 2, cell “F1”

One formula will get me started, as I’ll just change the criteria for the 1,2,3, or 4.

Thank you,
Mark

Excel Facts

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
You could probably use either SUMPRODUCT or COUNTIFS but this is going to depend on the version of Excel you are using.
